A Lamp Unto My Feet?

A Lamp Unto My Feet?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who declare your word is a lamp unto their feet. In Jesus’ name, amen.

“Thy Word” by Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith is based on Psalm 119:105. The song begins,

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

When I feel afraid
Think I’ve lost my way
Still you’re there right beside me
And nothing will I fear
As long as you are near
Please be near me to the end.

Psalm 119:105-106 (ESV) is a reminder to hold steadfast to God’s word, for in Scripture he shows us the way.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
I have sworn an oath and confirmed it,
to keep your righteous rules.”

Do you ever feel like you need guidance? Are you in the throes of making a big decision? Don’t underestimate the power of God’s word to light the way. Ask God to direct you and light your path.

Hold Back Your Feet from Every Evil?

Hold Back Your Feet from Every Evil?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know it is through you we am able to hold back our feet from every evil way in order to keep your word. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Along life’s journey there are many paths. Choosing which is the right one can be challenging. Yet, God’s word offers guidance for those who are seeking.

In Psalm 119:98-104 (ESV) we learn the psalmist loves God’s law and commandments. He wants to be faithful and to avoid evil.

“Oh how I love your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies,
for it is ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers,
for your testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the aged,
for I keep your precepts.
I hold back my feet from every evil way,
in order to keep your word.
I do not turn aside from your rules,
for you have taught me.
How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through your precepts I get understanding;
therefore I hate every false way.”

Want to make the right choices in life? Choose to take God at his word. It is with God’s help you can keep from stumbling.

Your Word Is Firmly Fixed?

Your Word Is Firmly Fixed?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. In Jesus name, amen.

God’s word and the heavens are intertwined in Scripture. For example, Luke 16:17 (ESV) says, “But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.”

Psalm 119:89 (ESV) tells us,

“Forever, O Lord, your word
is firmly fixed in the heavens.
Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
you have established the earth, and it stands fast.”

Take a look at a sunrise, a sunset, or a night sky.

Prayer is simply talking to God. So pray. Ask him to reveal himself. Expect his reply.

Persecute with Falsehood?

Persecute with Falsehood?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who persist in their faith in the face of persecution. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ever felt like someone is out to get you, and that that someone is about to succeed?

In Ancient Israel we learn of a similar situation in Psalm 119:86-87 (ESV) where the persecutors are about to prevail.

“All your commandments are sure;
they persecute me with falsehood; help me!
They have almost made an end of me on earth,
but I have not forsaken your precepts.”

Even in the face of the adversity, the psalmist maintains firm reliance on God’s commandments and precepts.

Do the attacks seem relentless? Even in the face of adversity, stay focused on God’s word.

From The Author

I Love to Write. I Love to Write Books. I Love to Write Children’s Books.

I Love to Write. I Love to Write Books. I Love to Write Children’s Books.

The last several weeks I have been working with a high performance coach. One task my coach assigned has led me learn more about my competition.

Months ago, before I ever landed my seven-book publishing contract, I did an exhaustive search of comparable titles related to my first book. This ended up being one section of the book proposal that won me the contract.

Yet, once I had my list of titles I thought I was finished, so I went on to work on other things.

My coach asked me to delve deeper in to the habits of the authors of successful children’s books.  I have looked at books, the author’s websites, and the book’s and author’s presence on Amazon. Integrating these has given me a new appreciation for the interrelationship between a book, the author’s website, and book marketing.

I am excited to report that this research project has reignited my desire to rise to the occasion and be the best children’s book author I can be. Researching and learning from other great authors, who are some of the best of the best in the business, is revolutionizing how I view serving those who will eventually buy my books.

All I needed was for my coach to point me in the right direction, and I was off and running.

Let me know if you have had a similar experience.

God Created Me?

God Created Me?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know your hands have made and fashioned me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One of the great demarcations in modern society can be found in the first words of the Bible, Genesis 1:1 (ESV): “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Belief in the truth of this verse separates those who acknowledge God’s role in creation from those who do not.

Psalm 139:13 (ESV) says, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”

Psalm 119:73 (ESV) also starts off recognizing God is a personal creator.

“Your hands have made and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.”

Where are you with your thoughts about God creating heaven and earth? Do you accept that God personally knit you together in your mother’s womb, and that his hands made and fashioned you? If so, rejoice! If not, ask God to show you he is real.
