Train Up a Child!

Train Up a Child!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those involved in training up children in the way they should go. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Teaching a child faith lessons early on can save their life.

King Solomon in Proverbs 22:6 (ESV) shares about the lifelong impact.

“Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Don’t underestimate the power of this early training. Even if a person goes astray along the way, in later years, a person can find restoration and reconciliation with God.

Were you trained up in the way you should go?

Think back of those who helped train you. Do you think it would be appropriate to say, “Thank you?” Don’t delay in acknowledging those who have poured their lives into yours.

On the Side of the Lord!

On the Side of the Lord!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are on your side. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Some people stand in opposition to the Lord.

Such people will gather a team of wise men to provide their brand of wisdom, their understanding of the situation, and listen to their so-called wise counsel. What will come of all this effort?

The simple answer is found in Proverbs 21:30 (ESV).

“No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel
can avail against the Lord.”

After everything, the Lord’s will stands.

Rather than going against the Lord, build a firm foundation on godly wisdom, understanding the Lord’s precepts, and listening to the wise counsel of people well-grounded in God’s word.

Keep Your Mouth and Your Tongue!

Keep Your Mouth and Your Tongue!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who keep their mouth and their tongue. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Do you ever recall hearing a comment or comments when someone said something that was inappropriate?

There is an idiomatic expression about someone who sticks their foot in their mouth.

King Solomon in Proverbs 21:23 (ESV) offers wise advice.

“Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue
keeps himself out of trouble.”

Be careful to think before you speak, watch what you say, and guard your words.

Righteousness and Kindness!

Righteousness and Kindness!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who pursue righteousness and kindness. In Jesus’ name amen.

Righteousness has many synonyms: virtue, morality, justice, decency, uprightness, rectitude, honesty, and blamelessness.

According to Christianity.com,
“Righteousness is an attribute that belongs to God, the Lawgiver, and is manifested in His laws. No man can be justified by his own works apart from God’s ordinance. Therefore, righteousness is a wonderful gift from God to humanity through his love: it is the God-given quality imputed to man upon believing in the Son of God.”

Jesus Christ.

Psalm 21:21 (ESV) is about those who pursue righteousness and kindness.

“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

Life everlasting awaits those who believe in the Son of God. Have you been waiting to put your trust in him? Don’t delay.

Live in a Corner of a Housetop?

Live in a Corner of a Housetop?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those with quarrelsome spouses. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Some people would give almost anything to have tranquility in their marriage. People suffering in adverse circumstances can find themselves the victims of abuse and worse.

Proverbs 21:9 (ESV) may sound humorous, but is rather profound.

“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop
than in a houseshared with a quarrelsome wife.”

If you are in a challenging relationship, seek wise counsel. Find a professional to confide in. If possible, find reconciliation.

The Lord Turns a King’s Heart!

The Lord Turns a King’s Heart!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the Lord turns a king’s heart wherever he will.

World leaders are powerful people. They have advisors, security details, supporters, and detractors.

Some think they are in control. But this is not the case.

Proverbs 21:1 (ESV) tells us who is in charge.

“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord;
he turns it wherever he will.”

Some people act like kings in the workplace and at home.

Stop thinking political leaders have destiny in their hands.

Rather, acknowledge God!

He is the true power behind the throne. Behind your throne, too.
