Join with Nature and Kings?

Join with Nature and Kings?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who join with nature and kings to praise the name of the Lord. In Jesus name, amen.

In Luke 19:39-40 (ESV), on Palm Sunday, Jesus is described as making his way to Jerusalem.

“And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”

The psalmist in Psalm 148:7-14 (ESV) describes how all manner of things can praise God.

“Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy wind fulfilling his word!

Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
Beasts and all livestock,
creeping things and flying birds!

Kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all rulers of the earth!
Young men and maidens together,
old men and children!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his majesty is above earth and heaven.
He has raised up a horn for his people,
praise for all his saints,
for the people of Israel who are near to him.
Praise the Lord!”

Don’t stand and wait on the sidelines while others are praising God. Praise God right where you are. Now!

Praise Him?

Praise Him?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom as the universe shouts its praises to you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

We often think of people worshiping God.

Yet, Psalm 148:1-6 (ESV) is evidence of praise from throughout the universe.

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord
from the heavens;
praise him in the heights!
Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts!

Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars!
Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord!
For he commanded and they were created.
And he established them forever and ever;
he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.”

Creation shouts praise to the Lord. Won’t you join with creation and praise the Lord?

Winds Flow and Waters Flow?

Winds Flow and Waters Flow?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know God makes his wind to blow and the waters flow. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Seven of the verses in Psalm 147:12-20 (ESV) begin with the word “He.” “He” is followed by active verbs and other masculine pronouns.

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
For he strengthens the bars of your gates;
he blesses your children within you.
He makes peace in your borders;
he fills you with the finest of the wheat.
He sends out his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
He gives snow like wool;
he scatters frost like ashes.
He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his cold?
He sends out his word, and melts them;
he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.
He declares his word to Jacob,
his statutes and rules to Israel.
He has not dealt thus with any other nation;
they do not know his rules.
Praise the Lord!”

The active verbs in this section of Scripture includes makes, sends, gives, hurls, sends, makes, and declares. Give thanks for the Lord.

Fear and Hope?

Fear and Hope?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who fear the Lord and hope in his steadfast love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

While God is sustaining life on planet earth, he is worthy of praise, thanksgiving, and worship.

In Psalm 147:7-11 (ESV) God provides for and takes pleasure in those who fear him and have hope in his love.

“Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on the lyre!
He covers the heavens with clouds;
he prepares rain for the earth;
he makes grass grow on the hills.
He gives to the beasts their food,
and to the young ravens that cry.
His delight is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.”

Even if you feel your voice is not the best, sing a joyful noise unto the Lord. Realize God’s provision. Give thanks.

Heals the Brokenhearted?

Heals the Brokenhearted?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know God heals the heartbroken and binds up their wounds. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For all the despairing and despondent people who feel crushed by life’s circumstances, God is able to provide healing.

Psalm 147:1-6 (ESV) praises God and gives reasons he is praiseworthy including his healing power.

“Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.
The Lord lifts up the humble;
he casts the wicked to the ground.”

The God who determines the number of the stars is able to heal the brokenhearted. Remain humble. Praise God. Trust him if you are hurting. Ask him to bind up your wounds.

Praise the Lord, O My Soul?

Praise the Lord, O My Soul?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who say praise the Lord, O my soul. In Jesus name, amen.

Matt Redman wrote the song “10,000 Reasons,” also known as “Bless the Lord.”

“Bless the Lord oh my soul
Oh my soul
Worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
Oh my soul
I’ll worship Your Holy name
The sun comes up
It’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass
And whatever lies before me
Let me be singing
When the evening comes”

Instead of having with the words, “Bless the Lord,” Psalm 146 has the words, “Praise the Lord, O my soul!”

The song and the psalm both worship the living God.

Psalm 146:1-2 (ESV) emphasizes praise.

“Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”

Are you singing God’s praise with all of your being?

Will you be praising God for as long as you live?
