Whoever Brings Blessing Will Be Enriched!

Whoever Brings Blessing Will Be Enriched!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who bring blessing. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Proverbs 11:25 (ESV) is about how God takes care of his own.

”Whoever brings blessing will be enriched,
and one who waters will himself be watered.”

It is time to take a fresh look at God’s message in Proverbs. It seems God will take care of those who bring blessings. He will also refresh those who refresh others. Bring blessing and be one who offers water to those who are thirsty. Look for opportunities to bless others and take care of their needs.

Examine the Heart!

Examine the Heart!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who examine their own heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

King David wrote in Psalm 51:10 (ESV),

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Imagine taking a drink from a small pool of water and seeing your own reflection. The likeness in the water should look like you.

Solomon in his wisdom, in Proverbs 27:19 (ESV) compares the face looking at the face in the water to the heart of a man.

“As in water face reflects face,
so the heart of man reflects the man.”

Do you have a clean heart, or do you have a deep, dark secret?

Be like David. Ask God to give you forgiveness.

Have a clean heart, so you can reflect a clean heart.

Water from a Rock?

Water from a Rock?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who recall how you used Moses in the wilderness to strike a rock to provide water. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture is full of miracles. The record of what happened to Moses at Horeb when he struck a rock and water flowed appears in Exodus 17:1-7. Even though the people had complained about not having enough water, God provided.

Psalm 114:1-8 (ESV) reminds the Israelites of their history including the parting of the Red Sea and how God allowed the people to pass through the Jordan River. There is also reference to Moses and the rock.

“When Israel went out from Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.

The sea looked and fled;
Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.

What ails you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.”

In Deep Waters?

In Deep Waters?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who struggle to stay afloat in deep waters. In Jesus name, amen.

Ever been in deep water? If a person is not a swimmer, deep water can mean deep trouble.

Being in an ocean or a pool and being unable to touch bottom can be harrowing.

Along with the psalmist, David, in Psalm 69:1-3 (ESV) follow the metaphor, and visualize how he is about to overwhelmed by deep waters (i.e. the enemies and forces aligned against him).

“Save me, O God!
For the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in deep mire,
where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
and the flood sweeps over me.
I am weary with my crying out;
my throat is parched.
My eyes grow dim
with waiting for my God.”

Drowning in a crisis? Seemingly without help? Impossible to stay afloat? God can save you. Trust him to do so. Do like David did. Cry out, “Save me, O God!”
