Fear is Real!

Fear is Real!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are afraid. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Fear is real. Some will say that the letters in the word F E A R are an acronym of the words: False, Evidence, Appearing, Real. Not all fears are generated by false evidence.

We learn in Psalm 56:1-4 (ESV) that the psalmist, David, had reason to be afraid.

“Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?”

Do you find yourself fearful? Read Scripture. Pray. Ask God for his help. When the psalmist says, “I shall not be afraid,” that may be easy to say and harder to live. Don’t give up on God. He will walk with anyone through the emotional roller coaster created by fear. Tell me what you think below.

The Man Who Trusts His Wife!

The Man Who Trusts His Wife!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for the husband who trusts his wife. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is often said that behind every successful man is a successful woman. The last verses of Proverbs 31 are about a “Proverbs 31 Wife.”

Proverbs 31:11-12 (ESV) is about the good fortune that comes to a man who has an excellent wife.

“The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.”

It is amazing to see how well a couple and a family can thrive when there is trust in the relationship.

Establish and live out the trust.

Shield and Refuge!

Shield and Refuge!

Dear Lord, I pray for those to know you are a shield and a refuge. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Psalm 91:2 (ESV) says,

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.”

Proverbs 30:5-6 (ESV) compliments the sentiment, and it is about the truth of God’s word and how he is a refuge.

“Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Do not add to his words,
lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.”

The Bible is God’s holy and inspired word.

Scripture gives fair warning. Beware of adding to God’s word.

Walk in Wisdom!

Walk in Wisdom!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who make an effort to walk in wisdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Those who are interested in wilderness survival know how important a compass can be. One thing about using a compass is to trust the compass and not instincts about direction. Mountaineering students are taught to trust the compass because instincts can be wrong.

Proverbs 28:26 (ESV) is about a person who trusts their own mind instead of trusting God.

“Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool,
but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”

Like the mountaineer who trusts his or her compass, be a person who walks in wisdom trusting God.

Do not rely on your own mind.

A Joyful Heart is Good Medicine!

A Joyful Heart is Good Medicine!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know a joyful heart is good medicine. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A person with a joyful heart can fill a room with joy. Such a person is not only good medicine for themselves, he or she is good medicine for those around them.

Proverbs 17:22 (ESV) contrasts a joyful heart with a crushed spirit.

“A joyful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

I pray for wisdom for those who have a crushed spirit. Devastating situations can happen to anyone. At such times, turn to God. When everything seems to be falling apart, seek first the kingdom of God.

Trust God, now and always.

Trust the Lord with All Your Heart!

Trust the Lord with All Your Heart!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who trust you will all their heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Are you willing to trust God? Are you willing to submit your will to God’s will? Will you give God the credit for all he is doing and has done? Are you willing to allow God to keep you on the straight and narrow?

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV), two well-known verses, affirm a promise based on acknowledging God.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”

If you have not trusted God until now, start. Make a decision to lean on God. Acknowledge him. Let him be trusted to make straight your paths.
