Are You On the Side of the Lord!

Are You On the Side of the Lord!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are on Your side. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Some people stand in opposition to the Lord.

Such people will gather a team of wise men to provide their brand of wisdom, their understanding of the situation, and listen to their so-called wise counsel. What will come of all this effort?

The simple answer is found in Proverbs 21:30 (ESV).

“No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel
can avail against the Lord.”

After everything, the Lord’s will stands.

Rather than going against the Lord, build a firm foundation on godly wisdom, understanding the Lord’s precepts, and listening to the wise counsel of people well-grounded in God’s word.

Who Or What is Your Strong Tower?

Who Or What is Your Strong Tower?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know your name is a strong tower. In Jesus’s name, amen.

God offers refuge in times of trouble. When believers need refuge, they can pray, read scripture, and praise God.

In Proverbs 18:10 (ESV) we learn the name of the Lord is a safe place.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”

Non-believers do not have a place to run. In contrast, believers can find safety in the strong tower of the name of the Lord.

God can make a way when there seems no way. Tell the world, the Lord Jesus Christ is King of Kings.

What Can Man Do To Me?

What Can Man Do To Me?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who say, “I will not fear. What can man do to me?” In Jesus’ name, amen.

Fear can paralyze a person to inaction. Fear can also keep a person awake at night. Anyone can go through a season of panic and anxiety.

The cure for such things is God’s word where it says, “The Lord is on my side.”

Psalm 118:5-9 (ESV) explains that God can answer us personally and set us free.

“Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
The Lord is on my side as my helper;
I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.”

Where is it you go when you need to take refuge from panic and anxiety? Where do you run when afraid?

2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV) tells us,

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Think about what it means to turn to the Lord and take refuge in him. When in distress, know God is on your side.

Bless Them!

Bless Them!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know God will bless them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When God gives his blessing, it means he gives his divine favor. When we say we “Bless the Lord,” it means to glorify him.

Psalm 115:12-18 (ESV) refers to the how God blesses his people, and how his people bless him.

“The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us;
he will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;
he will bless those who fear the Lord,
both the small and the great.

May the Lord give you increase,
you and your children!
May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!

The heavens are the Lord’s heavens,
but the earth he has given to the children of man.
The dead do not praise the Lord,
nor do any who go down into silence.
But we will bless the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore.
Praise the Lord!”

As the psalm says, “Praise the Lord!” He has blessed and deserves to be blessed. Stop. Give thanks. Praise! Worship!

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the name of the Lord is to be praised. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Synonyms for the word “praise” include words like exultation, glorification, honor, crown, homage, devotion, worship, reverence, veneration, and adulation.

Psalm 113:1-3 (ESV) puts praising the Lord at the forefront.

“Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!

Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!”

Some people use the expression, “Praise the Lord” casually. Do you make a habit of praising God? Will knowing the synonyms change the way you think about what it means to praise the Lord? Reread the Psalm. Spend some time praising the Lord!

Worship The Lord In the Splendor of Holiness!

Worship The Lord In the Splendor of Holiness!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who ascribe glory and strength to the Lord. In Jesus’ name.

The term ascribe means “to give credit to.”

In the case of Psalm 29:1-2 (ESV), we learn what David, the psalmist, ascribes to the Lord. Moreover, the credit given to the Lord leads to worship.

“Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”

Pondering the Lord’s glory and strength should give us pause. Are you in awe of holy God? Praise his name.
