Delighting in God’s Commandments!

Delighting in God’s Commandments!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who delight in your commandments. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights begins, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

During recent decades, there has been an effort by secularists and atheists to remove God’s commandments from the public square.

Those in opposition to removal of the Ten Commandments, specifically, stand firm in the conviction that God’s commandments are part of America’s Judeo-Christian heritage and remain relevant today. Thus, they should be proudly displayed.

Psalm 112:1 (ESV) refers to those who delight in God’s commandments.

“Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments!”

No Idols?

No Idols?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for all those who avoid worshiping idols. In Jesus name, amen.

God makes clear in the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:3-6 (ESV) there should be no other….

“’You shall have no other gods before me.’

‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.’”

Psalm 135:15-18 (ESV) tells the truth about idols.

“The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak;
they have eyes, but do not see;
they have ears, but do not hear,
nor is there any breath in their mouths.
Those who make them become like them,
so do all who trust in them.”

Has something become more important than God? Has it become an idol? Take swift action to remove or otherwise destroy it. Ask forgiveness. Give thanks for God’s forgiveness.

Teach Me Your Way, O Lord?

Teach Me Your Way, O Lord?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those open to be taught your way and to walk in the truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In the first of the Ten Commandments, Exodus 20:3 (ESV), God says, “’You shall have no other Gods before me.’”

We read in Psalm 86:10-13 (ESV), the phrase, “You alone are God.” This acknowledges God’s supremacy.

“For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.
Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.”

Are you open to being taught God’s ways? Do you spend time in his holy and inspired word? If not, why not? Make a resolution to spend more time with God reading his word and praying.
