Psalm for a King?

Psalm for a King?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those whose heart overflows with a pleasing theme. In Jesus’ name, amen.

According to the notes in the English Standard Version of the Bible, Psalm 45 is written to honor a king the line of David.

The notes go on to say,
“Whether these words are to be sung by the congregation or by a choir, they are addressed to the king.”

The first words of Psalm 45:1-7 honor a man. By verses six and seven the words point to God.

“My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;
I address my verses to the king;
my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.

You are the most handsome of the sons of men;
grace is poured upon your lips;
therefore God has blessed you forever.
Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,
in your splendor and majesty!

In your majesty ride out victoriously
for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness;
let your right hand teach you awesome deeds!
Your arrows are sharp
in the heart of the king’s enemies;
the peoples fall under you.

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”

Imagine these words being sung by the congregation or a choir. Either way, God ultimately gets the glory. Does your heart overflow with a pleasing theme? If so, maybe you want to write your thoughts. If God is leading, take action.

Bible Giveaway?

Bible Giveaway?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who distribute Bibles. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Millions of Bibles are given away every year. Some are given to family members and friends. Others purchase Bibles with the intent of giving them away to total strangers.

As Scripture declares in Isaiah 55:11 (NLT),
“It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

The King James Version says,
“It [God’s word] shall not return unto me void.”

There are countless testimonies of people who, while reading Scripture, experienced rebirth, renewal, and revival.

And don’t forget to also tell people about Bible applications for phones. YouVersion Bible is just one example. It has a feature that will allow a person to hear Scripture being read aloud.

Take action! Pray for wisdom! Find an organization that distributes Bibles and make a contribution. Or, find reasonably priced Bibles, buy some, and then give them away. Or, share how a Bible application can make it possible to hear God’s word being read to you. God can use you to get Scripture into the hands of those who need it.
