Did You Know Wisdom Cries Out?

Did You Know Wisdom Cries Out?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know wisdom cries aloud. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Since time immemorial, people have sought wisdom. King Solomon offered God-given wisdom in the book of Proverbs.

According to the notes in the English Standard Version of the Bible for Proverbs 8:1-5 it says, “This section begins with personification of wisdom as a woman calling out in the streets.”

“Does not wisdom call?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
‘To you, O men, I call,
and my cry is to the children of man.
O simple ones, learn prudence;
O fools, learn sense.’”

Rejoice! Wisdom is within reach. This section of Scripture implies there is hope even for simple ones and fools.

Don’t take godly wisdom for granted.

Delivered From the Way of Evil!

Delivered From the Way of Evil!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who you will deliver from the way of evil. In Jesus’s name, amen.

God provides Scripture to guide and direct his followers. Take heed of Solomon’s God-inspired messages.

Proverbs 2:6-15 (ESV) is about how the Lord gives wisdom.

“For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;
for wisdom will come into your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
discretion will watch over you,
understanding will guard you,
delivering you from the way of evil,
from men of perverted speech,
who forsake the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness,
who rejoice in doing evil
and delight in the perverseness of evil,
men whose paths are crooked,
and who are devious in their ways.”

Allow God to speak to you through Scripture. Stay away from those who rejoice in doing evil. These people are identifiable by the traits described in the above verses.

Pursue God.

Seek Understanding!

Seek Understanding!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who have understanding, so they can be even more discerning. In Jesus’ name, amen.

There is an interesting juxtaposition in Proverbs 28:11 (ESV).

One man is rich and claims to be wise. Another man is poor and has understanding. Who has the advantage between these two?

Logic would seem to say the rich man who claims to be wise would have the upper hand. But King Solomon puts things into perspective.

“A rich man is wise in his own eyes,
but a poor man who has understanding will find him out.”

It seems the man with money who claims to be wise is no match for the poor person with understanding.

Don’t be deceived by what might seem obvious. Do you seek true wisdom, or are you wise in your own eyes? Believers can develop true wisdom and understanding by reading Scripture and listening to the Holy Spirit.

What About Christ’s Bones?

What About Christ’s Bones?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who see how prophetic Scripture is with regard to Christ’s bones not being broken during his crucifixion. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In Exodus 12 there is a description of Passover. Exodus 12:46 (ESV) gets specific when the Passover lamb is described:

“It shall be eaten in one house; you shall not take any of the flesh outside the house, and you shall not break any of its bones.”

Psalm 34:20 (ESV) is prophetic about the Lamb of God having no broken bones:

“He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.”

John 19:33-36 (ESV) explains how the prophesy was fulfilled:

“But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—that you also may believe. For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.”

Realize the interconnectedness of Scripture. Praise God that you also may believe.
