Are You Pursuing Righteousness and Kindness?

Are You Pursuing Righteousness and Kindness?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who pursue righteousness and kindness. In Jesus’s name amen.

Righteousness has many synonyms: virtue, morality, justice, decency, uprightness, rectitude, honesty, and blamelessness.

According to Christianity.com,
“Righteousness is an attribute that belongs to God, the Lawgiver, and is manifested in His laws. No man can be justified by his own works apart from God’s ordinance. Therefore, righteousness is a wonderful gift from God to humanity through his love: it is the God-given quality imputed to man upon believing in the Son of God.”
That is Jesus Christ.

Psalm 21:21 (ESV) is about those who pursue righteousness and kindness.

“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

Life everlasting awaits those who believe in the Son of God. Have you been waiting to put your trust in him? Don’t delay.

Avoid Wickedness!

Avoid Wickedness!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who avoid wickedness. In Jesus’s name, amen.

In the media and in real life the wicked seem to prosper. They seem to have all they want. Yet, scripture has a warning. There will come a time when fortunes reverse for those who are wicked.

In Proverbs 10:2-3 (ESV), God uses King Solomon to convey his message about the wicked. He contrasts the wicked with the righteous.

“Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
but righteousness delivers from death.
The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.”

Ultimately, the wicked will not prosper. Turn away from wickedness while there is still time.

Understanding That I May Live!

Understanding That I May Live!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know you give understanding, so your followers may live. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Students study hard to do well in their classes. They strive to understand what is being taught. A great deal of time is devoted to mastering subjects. How is it that a person can understand Scripture, so that it leads to life?

Psalm 119:137-144 (ESV) concludes with a plea for understanding.

“Righteous are you, O Lord,
and right are your rules.
You have appointed your testimonies in righteousness
and in all faithfulness.
My zeal consumes me,
because my foes forget your words.
Your promise is well tried,
and your servant loves it.
I am small and despised,
yet I do not forget your precepts.
Your righteousness is righteous forever,
and your law is true.
Trouble and anguish have found me out,
but your commandments are my delight.
Your testimonies are righteous forever;
give me understanding that I may live.”

Scripture has a life-giving message. The psalmist confirms there is a link between understanding and life. Do you acknowledge Scripture as being the truth? Do you trust God to provide life? Seek him. Praise him. Rejoice. Ask for understanding that you may live.

God’s Promises!

God’s Promises!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the generation of the upright will be blessed. In Jesus’ name, amen.

At the time it was written, Psalm 112:3-8 (ESV) tells us that he who followed God’s commandments was promised the following:

“His offspring will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered forever.”

What a list of promises. It is well for a man who conducts his affairs with justice. Follow God. Are their things in your life that need to change? Ask God’s guidance for what he recommends for next steps. Step out in faith.

Breathed By God!

Breathed By God!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who realize that all Scripture is God breathed. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Believers look to God’s holy and inspired word for guidance, inspiration, and more.

2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) tells us,

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

Psalm 111:2-4 (ESV) reinforces the idea of God’s righteousness.

“Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.”

God’s works are not only great, they are remembered.

Why not study God’s word in order to bring to mind all his works. Tell others. Share what God has done in your life with the next generation.
