Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those of one generation who commend your works to the next. In Jesus’ name, amen.
God used Moses to lead the Children of Israel before and after they departed Egypt. Then, when the Chosen People arrived in the Promised Land, God used Joshua.
David was fully aware of God’s story.
In Psalm 145:4-7 (ESV) David shares about how the current generation will commend – praise and speak well of – God’s works to future generations.
“One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.”
David used active verb tenses like declared God’s mighty acts, meditated on his wondrous works, declared his greatness, and sang of his righteousness.
Are you willing to do your part to share with future generations about God’s faithfulness? If you have not already, begin telling the stories, so the next generation can carry on the faith tradition.
