Has Someone Given You Life-giving Reproof?
Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who listen to life-giving reproof. In Jesus’s name, amen.
According to dictionary.com, “reproof” means the act of reproving, censuring or rebuking.”
Ever been told you should not be doing something? As adults, this can lead to more than just hard feelings. Not everyone is so inclined to change behavior after being rebuked.
Proverbs 15:31-32 (ESV) addresses those who listen to those who offer valid criticism.
“The ear that listens to life-giving reproof
will dwell among the wise.
Whoever ignores instruction despises himself,
but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.”
Take advice from those who dwell among the wise. The next time you do something inappropriate, listen to the person who offers a reproof.
