The Lord Establishes Our Steps!

The Lord Establishes Our Steps!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Perhaps you have a seen a child demanding to have their own way, and throwing a tantrum when they don’t get their way. Some adults are no different. When things don’t turn out the way they want, a man or woman can reacts with an angry outburst.

Proverbs 16:9 (ESV) is about a man’s plans and how the Lord is involved in their future.

“The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.”

Don’t take steps expecting to always get your way. Avoid the tantrums and outbursts. Rather read Proverb 16:9, and accept that you can have the plans, but the Lord is in control of how things unfold.

Those Who Are Humble!

Those Who Are Humble!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are humble. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A person with humility can be said to have an unassuming nature.

The relationship between God and men and women is a topic worthy of endless discussion, but once people understand how almighty and powerful God is and how limited we men and women are, then it is possible to realize God is God and we need to be humble in his presence.

Proverbs 15:33 (ESV) is about instruction in wisdom and how humility comes before honor.

“The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom,
and humility comes before honor.”

Won’t you put in perspective God’s power, and humbly come before him with praise and adoration?

Adorns the Humble with Salvation?

Adorns the Humble with Salvation?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know you take pleasure in your people and adorns the humble with salvation. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The first verse lyrics to “Humble Thyself In The Name Of The Lord” by Maranatha! Music are as follows:

“Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord
Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord
And He shall lift you up (higher and higher)
And He shall lift you up”

Psalm 149:1-9 (ESV) begins and ends with praise. It also says humility is rewarded.

“Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
his praise in the assembly of the godly!
Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!
Let them praise his name with dancing,
making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
Let the godly exult in glory;
let them sing for joy on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands,
to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishments on the peoples,
to bind their kings with chains
and their nobles with fetters of iron,
to execute on them the judgment written!
This is honor for all his godly ones.
Praise the Lord!”

Salvation comes from God. John 14:6 (ESV) says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Praise God. Humble yourself. Believe.

Praise The Name?

Praise The Name?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who praise the name of the Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Synonyms for the word “praise” include “adulation,” “tribute,” and “acclaim.”

Psalm 135:1-3 (ESV) uses the word “praise” three times in the first verse.

“Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord,
give praise, O servants of the Lord,
who stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God!
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing to his name, for it is pleasant!”

If there ever was a time to praise God, these verses call his people to praise him.

If you are alone or with other believers, take time to realize the Lord is good. Sing praises to his name.

A Calm and Quiet Soul?

A Calm and Quiet Soul?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who have calmed and quieted their soul. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Imagine having your world turned upside down. Until a few weeks ago, people in Ukraine were going about their daily routines. Life changed. War broke out. Overnight, some left the country. Others became soldiers. Mothers huddled in subways with their children. People died. The war continues.

In Psalm 131:1-3 (ESV) we learn the psalmist had calmed and quieted his soul.

“Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore.”

I do not know if people in war zones can be like the psalmist. Could anyone in these circumstances calm and quiet their soul?

In John 14:27 (ESV) Jesus is speaking. This may provide some comfort.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Pray for the people of Ukraine. Pray for peace. Pray that in the midst of a world turned topsy-turvey, those in crisis will hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.

Whatever your circumstances, can you turn to God and say, “I have calmed and quieted my soul.” Pray.

The Lord Surrounds?

The Lord Surrounds?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who you surround from this time forth and forevermore. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Imagine trusting God so much that your faith became immovable. Then, consider being surrounded and protected by Almighty God.

Psalm 125:1-2 (ESV) offers this kind of hope.

“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.”

Have you trusted Almighty God? Do you feel surrounded by his love and grace? If so, rejoice. If not, perhaps it is now time to confess your sins, and ask Christ to come into your heart. Don’t delay.
