I’ll Fly Away!

I’ll Fly Away!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom to follow you faithfully until we fly by your side. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The average human life expectancy is currently between seventy-eight and seventy-nine years.

The famous song, “I’ll Fly Away” – written in 1929 by Albert Brumley, and since then recorded by Alan Jackson and many others – has a powerful message throughout, but especially in the first verse and the refrain.

“Some glad morning when this life is over
I’ll fly away
To a home on God’s celestial shore
I’ll fly away

I’ll fly away, oh, Glory
I’ll fly away
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by
I’ll fly away”

Psalm 90:9-10 (ESV) makes note of both the years of our lives and our flying away.

“For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.”

Toil and trouble are different for each person. Are you prepared for what happens with age? Be aware that God will walk with you to the end. Live life for God whatever your age.
