Who Is The Cornerstone?

Who Is The Cornerstone?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Act 4:11 (ESV) tells us, “This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.”

The verse in Acts refers back to Psalm 118: 22-23 (ESV). It is followed by a verse of affirmation.

“The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Recognize Jesus for he is. Although he was rejected and died on the cross, he was resurrected and now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

The Big Bet on Super Bowl Sunday 2022

The Big Bet on Super Bowl Sunday 2022

Have you heard of Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale?

He bet $9,500,000 the Cincinnati Bangles would beat the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

To spell it out, this man bet nine million, five hundred thousand dollars on the outcome of a single football game.

For those who watched the game, it was exciting to witness the teams trading the lead back and forth. It was not until the last minutes of the game that the Rams got a touchdown and made the extra point to move ahead.

In the remaining time, the Bangles had possession of the ball and were heading down field for what they hoped would be a game-winning touchdown or to make a field goal to at least tie the game.

The Bengals’ hopes ended when their quarterback was sacked, and they were stopped. Time ran out, and the game ended.

The Rams won the Super Bowl LVI 23 to 20.

Mattress Mack lost all of his money.

In life, there is one sure bet. We are not getting out of this life alive.

Like to bet? Instead of putting your faith in a football team to win a game, why not put your faith in Jesus Christ? He was born, lived, died, and was resurrected to give you eternal life. Life everlasting is promised in John 3:16-17 (ESV).

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Hold on to your money. There is no wager required to believe and be saved.

Happy Thanksgiving: Some Things For Which I Am Thankful!

Happy Thanksgiving: Some Things For Which I Am Thankful!

Thank you, Lord, for all you have provided. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you, Lord, for all you have provided. In Jesus’ name, amen.

As a believer and follower of Jesus, I am thankful. As soon as I finished writing this list, I thought of more to add. Each day brings new blessings.

I am thankful for the following and more:

For by a personal relationship with Jesus based on my believing the words of John, the third chapter, the sixteenth verse.

For God the Father.

For Jesus’ birth, life, and resurrection which gives victory over death.

For the gift of the Holy Spirit.

For the Word of God and all the authors who wrote the divinely inspired words.

For the apostles.

For translators who make the Bible’s content available in all the heart languages of the people of the world.

For missionaries serving around the globe.

For prayer warriors.

For answered prayers whether the answers be a “yes,” “no,” or “wait.”

For the family of God; the body of believers.

For Sunday school classes.

For men’s and women’s church groups.

For Christian educators and the students in their classes.

For hymns, other sacred music, and for contemporary Christian music.

For the ability to praise God from whom all blessings flow.

For living in a free country where it is possible to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

For believers who persist in their faith even under difficult circumstances and persecution.

For relationships with friends and family.

For work I can do as unto the Lord.

For my calling as a writer.

For my readers. You!

For new believers who come to personal faith in Christ.

For seekers who thrust for living water.

For unbelievers who are friends, neighbors, and acquaintances who keep me on my knees in intercession for them.

For the provisions for my well-being and those of my loved ones, including food, water, and shelter.

Here is a suggestion: Make a list of thing things for which you are thankful. Reread your list at least once a week until the end of the year. Add to your list. Praise God for the blessings in your life.

Data Mining Leads to Great Discoveries

Data Mining Leads to Great Discoveries

Data mining is the process of sifting through a large amount of unusable raw data to extract useful information.

A few years ago, I set out to data mine the accumulation of things in my garage. I started to go through file cabinets with drawers filled to the brim, bankers boxes with reams of filed and unfiled paper, journals, and notebooks.

Inside my home, I looked through long-forgotten computer files and shelves of pamphlets and books.

In the process of systematically searching, I made a host of discoveries along the way.  One example follows:

A square envelop revealed a single folded card with the words “Certificate of Baptism.”

Would it be my mother’s or mine?

Opening it revealed a thin sheet of slightly transparent tissue paper concealing the name.

The left side offered an engraved image of Jesus in robes with long hair and a beard. He was holding a staff. There was a picture with sheep and scenery.

Under the picture it read, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. St. Matthew 28:19

On the other side of the card written in ornate calligraphy printing the words:

“Certificate of Baptism, This Certifies that DENNIS ALAN CONRAD ,,,California, was by me Baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost On the Tenth day of June In the Year of our Lord 1962.

At Bethel Lutheran Church.

Los Angeles, CA.

Willis F. Erickson

Pastor”

Don’t delay. Start data mining today. You never know what discoveries you may find. Happy hunting.

Work in Progress?

Work in Progress?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for people to know that he who began a good work will be faithful to complete it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ever heard someone say, “Give it time.” Impatient people can be found everywhere. Our instant gratification culture can be seen in everything from on-demand movies to fast food.

In God’s economy things take time.
Apostle Paul says in Philippians 1:6 (ESV), “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

It may be very hard, but accept God’s timing. We can live by the promise: God will “bring it to completion” even if it takes longer than we expect. Be patient. Let God.

Let me know what you think below.
