Delivered My Soul From Death?

Delivered My Soul From Death?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who say, “You have delivered my soul from death.” In Jesus’ name, amen.

How would you like to be able to defeat death?

In Psalm 116:6-9 (ESV) the psalmist not only says, “He (the Lord) saved me,” he goes on to talk about his soul being delivered from death. This is good news.

“The Lord preserves the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.”

John 3:16 (ESV) is a verse about being saved from death.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ”

What have you done to deserve eternal life? The truth is we don’t deserve eternal life. It is a gift of God. Rest assured when you believe what it says in John 3:16. Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, and be saved.

Answered Prayer?

Answered Prayer?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom because you hear our prayers. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One of the number one issues people face today deals with communication. The research shows that many people are not very good listeners. A large percentage of people listen to their boss better than they do to their spouse. People love a good listener.

Psalm 116:1-5 (ESV) is about communication with God, and how he hears our pleas for mercy.

“I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The snares of death encompassed me;
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
Then I called on the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.”

How are your communication skills? Could you listen better to your loved ones? If so, then start today. The Lord hears pleas for mercy and delivers our soul. Thank God, the Lord hears us.

Bless?

Bless?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know God will bless them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When God gives his blessing, it means he gives his divine favor. When we say we “Bless the Lord,” it means to glorify him.

Psalm 1115:12-18 (ESV) refers to the how God blesses his people, and how his people bless him.

“The Lord has remembered us; he will bless us;
he will bless the house of Israel;
he will bless the house of Aaron;
he will bless those who fear the Lord,
both the small and the great.

May the Lord give you increase,
you and your children!
May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!

The heavens are the Lord’s heavens,
but the earth he has given to the children of man.
The dead do not praise the Lord,
nor do any who go down into silence.
But we will bless the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore.
Praise the Lord!”

As the psalm says, “Praise the Lord!” He has blessed and deserves to be blessed. Stop. Give thanks. Praise! Worship.

Their Help and Their Shield?

Their Help and Their Shield?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know you are their help and their shield. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Even with the words “In God We Trust” on American money, it is hard to determine what exactly that means for people in the United States. Where do you stand?

The people of Ancient Israel might not have put the phrase on their coins, but there were times God’s people trusted in him. Yet, at other times, God’s people did not trust him and they turned to worship false gods.

Psalm 115:9-11 (ESV) is about trusting in the Lord.

“O Israel, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.
You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord!
He is their help and their shield.”

Ever feel like it may be time to more completely trust God? Turn to him now, and ask for his guidance. Trust him and his holy and inspired word.

Idol Worship?

Idol Worship?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for believers who want to reach those who spend their time worshipping images made with human hands.

Idols are real. Ever enter an Asian restaurant and see a stature of Buddha?

Psalm 115:4-8 (ESV) describes idols and makes a person wonder what their worshipers see in them.

“Their idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
Those who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them.”

Pray. If given the opportunity, share your faith with someone who worships an idol. Never underestimate the power of idols to replace the living God in your own life. Is there something or someone who has become more important than God? Pray.

Water from a Rock?

Water from a Rock?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who recall how you used Moses in the wilderness to strike a rock to provide water. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture is full of miracles. The record of what happened to Moses at Horeb when he struck a rock and water flowed appears in Exodus 17:1-7. Even though the people had complained about not having enough water, God provided.

Psalm 114:1-8 (ESV) reminds the Israelites of their history including the parting of the Red Sea and how God allowed the people to pass through the Jordan River. There is also reference to Moses and the rock.

“When Israel went out from Egypt,
the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
Judah became his sanctuary,
Israel his dominion.

The sea looked and fled;
Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams,
the hills like lambs.

What ails you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turns the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.”
