Servant of Christ?

Servant of Christ?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Apostle Paul spread the Gospel. He was writing about his and the other apostles’ ministry when he wrote in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 (NIV):

“This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

Taking Paul’s example, it is important to realize that modern believers can humble themselves and become like him. Yes. You can. Be servants of Christ. Stewards of the mysteries of God. And be found faithful.

Who Gets The Glory?

Who Gets The Glory?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who live to do everything for the glory of God. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prideful people will say, “Look at all I have done. I did this totally myself.” There are others who take credit for what someone else has done. In either case, God’s part in success is not recognized.

Apostle Paul gave followers of Jesus a different worldview in 1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV): “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Think about it. There is no holding back. It says, “…do ALL to the glory of God.” Are you?

Holy Communion?

Holy Communion?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who celebrate Holy Communion. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Believers around the globe share something sacred: the elements of Holy Communion.

The words that follow may be familiar, but they should never be taken for granted.

Scripture speaks for itself in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (ESV) when the Apostle Paul writes:

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

Think of the common bond among believers. Be mindful. Pray for brothers and sisters who are persecuted for meeting together to take Communion.

Taken Communion in an Unworthy Manner?

Taken Communion in an Unworthy Manner?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are honest with God when eating the bread and drinking the cup. In Jesus name, amen.

Is there ever a time when a person can take Holy Communion in an unworthy manner?

Yes! The Apostle Paul explains 1 Corinthians 11:27-29 (ESV):

“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.”

Be humble and confess to God. If need be, ask forgiveness.

Are You a Good Neighbor?

Are You a Good Neighbor?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who seek the best for their neighbor. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Being a good neighbor used to be an important value.

Today, many people don’t even know who lives next door. Some have no clue as to the needs of those who live nearby. The Apostle Paul wrote about self-seeking versus being other-centered when he said in 1 Corinthians 10:24 (ESV):

“Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.”

If you don’t know your neighbor, then takes steps to meet and greet. Exchange ideas and tell him, her, or them about what is important. Is Jesus important?

Then share about him.

Why Do You Run?

Why Do You Run?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know they are running the race to obtain the prize.

Serious athletic competitors are dedicated to training. Famous and not so well known athletes report spending long hours to prefect their skills.

Believers and followers of Jesus should train hard. Yet, some believers take life causally. This type neglects focusing on the end goal.

Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 provides encouragement for anyone running life’s race.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

Prepare in such a way as to win the race. Run. Persist. Obtain the crown that will last forever.
