None Who Does Good?

None Who Does Good?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who acknowledge their sinfulness and rejoice they have a savior. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Men cannot change the reality of their inherent sinful nature. They can, however, seek and find Jesus, the savior of the world. Romans 3:23 (ESV) says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Psalm 53:2-3 (ESV) addresses this issue of sin:

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity;
there is none who does good.

God looks down from heaven
on the children of man
to see if there are any who understand,
who seek after God.

They have all fallen away;
together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.”

In desperate need of a savior? If you have been seeking answers to life’s most pressing questions, maybe it is time to open and read the Bible. Don’t wait to search scripture for answers to life’s most pressing questions.

Steadfast Love Endures?

Steadfast Love Endures?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the steadfast love of God endures, especially in the face of evil. In Jesus’ name amen.

David, the psalmist, describes those with evil intent. He refers to them as boastful and liars.

Psalm 52:1-5 (ESV) lets the reader know however boastful or filled with deceit an evil person might be, God will still prevail.

“Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man?
The steadfast love of God endures all the day.
Your tongue plots destruction,
like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit.
You love evil more than good,
and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah
You love all words that devour,
O deceitful tongue.

But God will break you down forever;
he will snatch and tear you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

Evil ones end in destruction. Fortunately, God’s steadfast love endures. When overwhelmed by the evil of the world, remember God is standing in the gap. His love endures all the day.

God Known as a Fortress?

God Known as a Fortress?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who praise God he has made himself known as a fortress.

When we think of fortifications, we think of a place where people are protected. A fort is defensible against all who attack or lay siege. It is a place of safety. People inside are secure.

Psalm 48:1-3 says that God is to be praised – God has made himself known as a fortress.

“Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.”

Are you in need of a fortress? Seek him if you do not yet know him. Run to God for refuge. Pray. Now.

King of all the Earth?

King of all the Earth?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who declare God is the king of all the earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When a person performs well, bosses and colleagues can praise him or her for their success. When a student writes well, he or she may receive a top “A” grade. Then the teacher may write an affirming note praising the student on paper, or praise the student from the front of class.

Psalm 47:5-7 is about praising God:

“God has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm!”

This psalm acknowledges God with praise. Do you do the same? Why not take a moment. Have a favorite praise song? Sing the song. Hum the song. Look it up on YouTube. Watch and listen. Praise God.

The Lord Do These Things?

The Lord Do These Things?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who intercede and ask for God’s blessing for others.

According to the notes in the English Standard Version of the Bible, “Psalm 20 is a prayer that God will give success to the Davidic King, particularly in battle.” Psalm 20:1-5 (ESV) can help[God to bless the King]:

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah

May he grant you your heart’s desire
and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!”

God is able to provide all this and more. How amazing it would be to see the psalmist’s list fulfilled. We serve a mighty God. Trust him.

The All-of-Me Check

The All-of-Me Check

The All-of-Me Check to God

Around 2004, I attended His Surrender, a church-sponsored, men’s program with Christian teaching and small group interaction. The purpose was to get men to surrender all aspects of their lives to God.

We challenged each other, and all of us grew as believers and followers of Jesus. It was a case of Proverbs 27:17 (ESV): “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” I relied on what is says in Philippians 4:13 (ESV): “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

At one point, I realized I had not fully surrendered to God. I could do more. I needed something tangible to seal my commitment and totally surrender.

What better way to do that than to write out a check to God. I sat down with a book of oversized business checks. I prayed. And I started writing my check. On the pay-to-the-order-of line I wrote, “God.” In the amount section, I wrote, “All of Me.” I then dated the check and signed my name.

But, that was not the end of it. Surrender needs to occur daily. William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, asked, “Will you go to His feet and place yourself entirely at His disposal?”

The day I wrote my check, I did. Will you do the same?

Pray with me and others during the daily Wisdom Prayer Challenge.
