Spinning Wool and Processing Flax!

Spinning Wool and Processing Flax!

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those blessed with skills and abilities that allow them to take care of their families. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Around the world, women are still spinning wool into yarn, and yarn into useful items. In the time of King Solomon, a woman with this ability was well-equipped to take care of her household. Likewise, this woman would often also be capable of processing flax to make linen.

Proverbs 31:19-24 (ESV) describes more of a Proverbs 31 Wife’s abilities.

“She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.”

With such gifts and abilities, it is no wonder King Solomon says in Proverbs 31:10 (ESV),

“An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.”

God Has Delivered?

God Has Delivered?

Dear Lord, I ask for wisdom for those God has delivered. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God hears the prayers of the faithful. It is affirming when God answers prayer positively. Yet, he can answer prayer with “yes;” “no;” and “wait.” There are a lot of other gradations in between.

Psalm 34:4-7 (ESV) is about when God answers prayers and delivers:

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.”

Ask the God of the universe to intervene in your life. Pray. Now.
