Do You Know Anyone Who Boasts about Tomorrow?

Do You Know Anyone Who Boasts about Tomorrow?

Dear Lord, I pray for those who do not boast about tomorrow. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Some people tend to brag about what they will do in the future.

Proverbs 27:1 (ESV) has something important to say about this type of boasting.

“Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.”

King Solomon seems to be wise when he declares this proverb.

It seems when someone becomes so preoccupied with their exaggerated claim about what the future holds, they forget about God’s sovereignty.

God holds the future.

Tomorrow is not promised to us.

If you need to change course and refresh, do so while there is still time. Perhaps it is time to ask forgiveness and repent for some transgression. Take action. Then, go forth and sin no more.

Are You Boastful?

Are You Boastful?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are trying to avoid being boastful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Boastful attention-seekers are most often prideful.

Everything is about them and their interests. On social media self-promoters are constantly boasting.

Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthian 13:4 (ESV) love and boasting are mutually exclusive.

”Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.”

The phrase “love does not…boast” is a warning for those that have a problem with boastful behavior.

Stop. Think. What to self-promote? Do it in love. What needs to change, so love takes the place of boasting?
