Share The Gospel?

Share The Gospel?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for all who answer the call to go and make disciples. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is fairly obvious that full- and part-time missionaries heed the call.

Yet, consider the second verse in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV). Verse 19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

This verse is not just for full-time missionaries. It is for all believers.

What can a regular person do to be more mission-minded?

The obvious is to share what Jesus means to you with a family member or friend.

But there is another way.

Come alongside of a missionary with financial support and other resources. For example, in a military operation there are those on the front lines.

Yet, there are countless others behind the scenes making sure the supply lines remain open.

Do your part, and make it possible for others to go and make disciples.

Don’t know a missionary? Find one. Take part in the Great Commission both personally and by sending others.

Let me know what you think.

Problem with Authority?

Problem with Authority?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are having issues with authority figures, or those who struggle with authority in general. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It can be a challenge dealing with anyone who wields power abusively.

In contrast, consider the first verse in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV). Verse 18 says, “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’”

Jesus is in charge.

Yet, on a personal level, God gives us free will to accept or reject his being in charge of our lives.

That means all aspects of life.

Is there some area of life you need to yield to God’s authority?

Take care of it, as soon as possible.

Answered Prayer Atop the Tree Stump

Answered Prayer Atop the Tree Stump

My wife and I were in our Barstow, California, home the end of May 2017.

The house was in escrow, and most of the household goods had been given away, donated, or readied for loading onto a U-Haul truck.

Late one afternoon, after a day of packing, I left my wife inside reading on the couch. I went into the backyard and climbed onto the stump of what was once a massive pine tree. That is when I began praying with my palms up. I looked out over the house we had owned over a decade. “Lord, this has been your house. Thank you for letting Diane and me use it for a time.”

My mind filled with fond memories. Leaving friends and neighbors was going to be bittersweet…

I asked the Lord for direction. “I am open to what you have for me. What do you want me to do with the rest of my life?”

I heard the Lord’s voice. “Write for me.”

We had a casual conversation, and I agreed to write for him.

By January 2018, I had started writing and began participating in different read-and-critique groups. A few months later, I joined the Diamond Valley Writers’ Guild. Later, I was invited to serve on the board of directors. I read books on the craft of writing, subscribed to Writer’s Digest, and joined Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild. My poems and personal essays started to get published.

I see this website as the next phase in writing for the Lord. For example, every day I am challenging people to pray for Wisdom. Won’t you join me?

Need a Miracle?

Need a Miracle?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who feel they must see signs and miracles before they make a decision to follow Jesus.

What tips the scale so a person becomes a believer?

Although everyone is different, some are convinced by the miracles in scripture.

Consider what Hebrews 9:4 (NLT) says: “Inside the Ark were a gold jar containing manna, Aaron’s staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant.”

The Hebrews were given countless signs and wonders to demonstrate God was in their midst.

Aaron’s staff was no ordinary walking stick. Often overlooked, this miracle became so important that the staff was placed in the Ark of the Covenant.

Look around. See God’s green thumb in nature. Remember the miracle of Aaron’s staff.

Is It Finished?

Is It Finished?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for people who are unaware Jesus said, “It is finished.”

Good Friday is a day to reflect upon what happened on the cross upon which Jesus was crucified.

As the drama unfolds, Jesus was mocked and then there was a conversation with one thief.

When that man becomes a believer, Jesus assured him in Luke 23:43 (NLT) “Today you will be with me in paradise.”

A friend wrote in an email that the phrase, “It is finished,” is the most significant one in all of literature.

For those who have never heard that Christ’s sacrifice paid the price for all sin, believe.

It is finished means you can be set be set free, free to begin eternal life. His finishing is for our forgiveness.

Real Close Encounters

Real Close Encounters

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those already standing on hallowed ground. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Are you ready for an unexpected close encounter?

Visualize the moment when Holy God was speaking to Moses, the murderer, at the burning bush.

Exodus 3:5 (NIV) says, “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

Scripture says Moses covered his face.

When believers pray, they are praying to the God of Moses. As you pray for wisdom for yourself and others, realize you, too, are in the presence of the Most High God and standing on holy ground.

Worship and bow down!
