Are You a Good Neighbor?

Are You a Good Neighbor?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who seek the best for their neighbor. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Being a good neighbor used to be an important value.

Today, many people don’t even know who lives next door. Some have no clue as to the needs of those who live nearby. The Apostle Paul wrote about self-seeking versus being other-centered when he said in 1 Corinthians 10:24 (ESV):

“Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.”

If you don’t know your neighbor, then takes steps to meet and greet. Exchange ideas and tell him, her, or them about what is important. Is Jesus important?

Then share about him.

Why Do You Run?

Why Do You Run?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know they are running the race to obtain the prize.

Serious athletic competitors are dedicated to training. Famous and not so well known athletes report spending long hours to prefect their skills.

Believers and followers of Jesus should train hard. Yet, some believers take life causally. This type neglects focusing on the end goal.

Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 provides encouragement for anyone running life’s race.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

Prepare in such a way as to win the race. Run. Persist. Obtain the crown that will last forever.

Beyond What You Can Bear?

Beyond What You Can Bear?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know God will provide a way of escape from temptation.

There is a war for men’s and women’s souls. The enemy will use every conceivable tactic to derail a believer and lead him or her to sin. In the midst of these situations, God is faithful.

Apostle Paul provides hope for those in tempting situations. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, he says,

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

Hold on to this promise. At times of testing, God is there. Escape. You can endure it!

Aimless?

Aimless?

I pray for wisdom for those who are seeking how to best run life’s race.

Synonyms for the word “aimless” include purposeless, adrift, and wandering. When running life’s race, don’t get distracted and fall into sin.

Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 about running life’s race.

“Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Run with confidence. Have purpose in life. Be prepared. Avoid sin. Need to adjust? Change from being aimless and take aim. And run to win.

June 6, 1944 – June 6, 2021: The 77th Anniversary D-Day

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for believers to know the Lord will deliver those who know his name.

Prior to entering World War II and especially after America joined the war effort, many believers stopped and prayed.

Of those who crossed the English Channel on their way to the Normandy Invasion (D-Day: June 6, 1944), Psalm 91:14-16 (ESV) would have been a comfort.

This is the Lord’s promise:

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Acknowledge his holy name. Bless all who call on the Lord.

For Whom Do You Live?

For Whom Do You Live?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who have faith there is one God, the Father, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, from whom all things came and for whom we live. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Some trust their physical prowess. Others trust their emotions. Then there are those who trust their instincts. What a wide variety to choose from. Yet, when it came to where he would put his trust, the Apostle Paul narrowed it down.

In 1 Corinthians 8:6 (NIV) he says, “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.”

There is no guessing. Believe in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust and live!
