California Citrus State Historic Park

California Citrus State Historic Park

With relatives in town from Missouri, it was time to go exploring.

One trip took us on an adventure to a wonderful state park. We got to walk through exhibits, take a tour, and taste various citrus varieties including oranges, lemons, and cumquats.

Along Van Buren Boulevard in Riverside there was an building with a big orange on one corner. Across the street was a Gless Ranch Orchard open-air fruit stand that sold bags of fruit, nuts, and more.

We drove down the street and followed the signs to the entrance of the park. There it was: a visitor center and museum in the center of a citrus grove. The modest price for parking was well worth the price of admission.

We happened to arrive just in time for a free, guided tour. Our tour guide led us on a walk through the grove. We even got to sample freshly picked fruit along the way.

It was a great place to take family and friends. I highly recommend you visit this state park. I give it my five star rating. The phone number is (951) 780-6222.
