Without Excuse?

Without Excuse?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those people who refuse to see your eternal power and divine nature through what you have created. In Jesus name, amen.

Naysayers say there is no God. And they go on to say that it is not obvious God created the heavens and the earth.

Scripture has a response to those who doubt the existence of God.

Romans 1:20 (NLT) says, “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

Take in the full measure of his glory when you gaze upon the stars, feel the warmth of the sun, climb a mountain, sit by a shore, watch a hawk soar, a butterfly flit and flutter, a flower bloom, or hear an oriole sing.

Please tell me what you think.

Why Pray for Wisdom?

Why Pray for Wisdom?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who have love for others. In Jesus name, amen.

Why do we pray for God’s wisdom?

Paul provides an example in Colossians 1:8. When he heard about how the Colossians had the love for others that the Holy Spirit gave them, he prayed. Yes, he prayed.

Colossians 1:9 (NLT) proves it. “So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.”

Imagine the apostle Paul praying with other prayer warriors for wisdom for fellow believers.

Pray daily for godly wisdom for yourselves, your family, and others.

Save Your Marriage

Save Your Marriage: Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God!

Save Your Marriage: Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God!

In May of 2019, my wife, Diane, and I traveled to the Holy Land.

The trip was led by Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Church based in in Riverside, California. (Harvest.org) Although we were divided into busloads and saw the sights by day, at night over six hundred of us gathered together for an evening meal and a time of worship, teaching, and fellowship.

One night as Pastor Greg was speaking to the group, he asked questions to identify the most recently married couple. Newlyweds who had been married only a few days before the trip won a prize.

Then he asked everyone who had been married over twenty-five years to stand up. My wife and I jumped to our feet because we had been married twenty-eight years. We were surprised when we heard the audience’s applause. We felt honored to be recognized with the other couples.

Then Pastor Greg said, “If you have been married over thirty-five years remain standing.” My wife and I sat down. It took a while, but finally, only one couple was still on their feet. They had been married sixty-two years.

A person with a microphone reached the couple. Pastor Greg asked, “What is the guiding principle that has allowed you to remain married for sixty-two years?” I will never forget the husband’s answer. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.”

He had just quoted the first words of Matthew 6:33. This was no ordinary man. This man was wise. What great advice.

Married? Never give up! Follow the formula for marital success.

Be Still?

Be Still?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for people who need to make time to be still in your presence. In Jesus name, amen.

“Me? Stop? Never.”

Some people never slow down. They complete a project, and it is quickly on to the next.

That sounds like a good thing, but I want to encourage you to pause and reflect before moving on.

Not only right now, but take a moment to pause at times throughout the day.

Scripture is clear in Psalm 46:10-11 (ESV). God says, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth!” And the psalm continues, “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

Stop for a moment and ponder what a mighty God we serve.

Feel Abandoned By God?

Feel Abandoned By God?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who feel God has abandoned them. In Jesus name, amen.

You are not forgotten!

The third verse of the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)), says to teach new disciples: “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Imagine early missionaries who stepped out of their comfort zone to go and share the Gospel.

Events and circumstances may have shaken their confidence, but they knew they were not alone.

This promise lasts to the end of the age.

You will not be abandoned. Christ is with you.

Thank God for this promise!

Share The Gospel?

Share The Gospel?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for all who answer the call to go and make disciples. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is fairly obvious that full- and part-time missionaries heed the call.

Yet, consider the second verse in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV). Verse 19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

This verse is not just for full-time missionaries. It is for all believers.

What can a regular person do to be more mission-minded?

The obvious is to share what Jesus means to you with a family member or friend.

But there is another way.

Come alongside of a missionary with financial support and other resources. For example, in a military operation there are those on the front lines.

Yet, there are countless others behind the scenes making sure the supply lines remain open.

Do your part, and make it possible for others to go and make disciples.

Don’t know a missionary? Find one. Take part in the Great Commission both personally and by sending others.
