Is Your God Too Small?

Is Your God Too Small?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for people who place limitations on God. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Got a big problem? Got a small god?

In polytheistic cultures, people have a choice among many gods. If a person has a big problem, it only makes sense to worship the most powerful god.

Christ rose from the dead. What is more powerful than that?

Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV) reinforces the idea of Christ’s wonderworking power: “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Never doubt what a mighty God we serve.

Feeling Shame and Guilt?

Feeling Shame and Guilt?

Lord, I pray for wisdom for those struggling with feelings of shame and guilt. In Jesus’ name, amen.

China is often characterized as being an honor/shame society.

Being personally honorable and bringing honor to the family is vital.

However, whenever a person falters, the shame reflects not only on the person but also on the family.

An individual and a family can carry the burden of shameful acts for a lifetime, and this dishonor can even be passed down generationally.

Anyone with a burden of shame can trust the Apostle Paul when he writes in Ephesians 1:7-8 (ESV): “In [Christ] we have redemption thorough his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight.”

Be wise! Know shame and guilt are defeated!

Trust in Christ.

Stop the guilt and shame once and for all!

Need Peace?

Need Peace?

I pray for wisdom for people who are desperate for a moment of peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Know anyone living with big challenges?

Life is not always easy.

When there seems to be no escaping life’s difficulties, realize that Jesus is clear. He gives peace!

This is great news. Jesus says in John 14:27 (ESV), “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

The peace Jesus is talking about is something anyone can acquire by having faith in him.

It is the confidence he walks together with us though life’s most trying times.

Have faith and peace.

How Is Your Walk?

How Is Your Walk?

I pray for wisdom for those who want to walk wisely. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What does it mean when a person asks a believer, “How is your walk?”

There are clues in Ephesians 5:15-17 (ESV) when it says: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

This verse is not about walking down the street. Rather, figuratively speaking, it is about how a person walks through life.

Are you making wise decisions? Do you have a sense of urgency? Are you putting faith into action? Look at where you are on your journey of faith.

Are you becoming foolish? If so, change right now, and walk in God-honoring wisdom.

Losing Heart?

Losing Heart?

I pray for wisdom for those who are tempted to lose heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

There are times in everyone’s life when it seems an objective is out of reach.

Circumstances intervene to prevent success.

When it seems impossible to fulfill a goal, especially when health issues intervene, people can lose heart and become discouraged.

Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (ESV): “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

These verses gives us hope. Don’t give up. Be renewed day by day. Focus on the eternal.

Rejoice in Suffering?

Rejoice in Suffering?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who are suffering. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In both our physical or emotional suffering, God is with us.

How can it be that Paul links suffering to hope?

Romans 5:2-4 (ESV) says: “Through him (Jesus) we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”

Follow the logic: If a person suffers, they have to endure much. Endurance has the idea of being able to carry on even when things in life are difficult.

Paul says that during the process of enduring one is building character. In the end, the character in turn produces hope.

Don’t give up in the face of suffering. Have hope in life everlasting!
