Meditate on God’s Mighty Deeds?

Meditate on God’s Mighty Deeds?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for all those who remember your wonders of old and meditate on your mighty deeds. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God is in the miracle business. When we think of all the signs and wonders in Egypt before pharaoh set the people free, there are many amazements to behold. Once the Israelites were out of captivity, those miracles thta took place in both the desert and upon entering the Promised Land were passed down through the generations.

In Psalm 77:11-15 (ESV) the psalmist says he will meditate on God’s mighty deeds.

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders;
you have made known your might among the peoples.
You with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

Think of all of God’s mighty deeds and meditate on one.

Save All the Humble?

Save All the Humble?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who realize you establish judgment to save all the humble of the earth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The people of Israel angered God by worshiping false gods, breaking his commandments, and more.

The notes to the English Standard Version of the Bible concerning the phrase “to save all the humble of the earth” refers to saving “the faithful among his people.”

In Psalm 76:7-9 the psalmist expresses a healthy respect for God’s anger and subsequent judgment.

“But you, you are to be feared!
Who can stand before you
when once your anger is roused?
From the heavens you uttered judgment;
the earth feared and was still,
when God arose to establish judgment,
to save all the humble of the earth. Selah

God has the authority to judge. Do you need to repent and turn away from the sin in your life? Pray. In John 8:11 (ESV) Jesus told a woman caught in the act of adultery to “‘go, and from now on sin no more.’”

In Control of the Universe?

In Control of the Universe?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know you are in control of the universe. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ever doubt that God is control? He is in charge of everything.

The psalmist in Psalm 74:12-17 (ESV) gives some perspective of God’s sphere of influence.

“Yet God my King is from of old,
working salvation in the midst of the earth.
You divided the sea by your might;
you broke the heads of the sea monsters on the waters.
You crushed the heads of Leviathan;
you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness.
You split open springs and brooks;
you dried up ever-flowing streams.
Yours is the day, yours also the night;
you have established the heavenly lights and the sun.
You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth;
you have made summer and winter.”

It is impossible to fathom the range of God’s influence. Yet, it is important to acknowledge he can be a personal God. Do you know the God of the universe? Jesus is his son. God will answer if you call to him.

Go Tell It On The Mountain?

Go Tell It On The Mountain?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who give you thanks and recount your wondrous deeds. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Being thankful to God for all he does is one thing. Translating that thankfulness into an obedient life is another.

Psalm 75:1 (ESV) is about being thankful and also about sharing about all God has done.

“We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks, for your name is near.
We recount your wondrous deeds.”

Are you willing to share about the wondrous deeds God has done in your life? Why? Or why not?

The song “Go Tell It on the Mountain” was written by John Wesley Work, Jr.

The song begins,

“Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born”

If you are a believer, as you are given the opportunity, share the story of how knowing God changed your life. Do not delay. Go. Tell it.

God Hears the Needy?

God Hears the Needy?

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom for those who know the Lord hears the needy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Whether around the world or at the local level, there are those in need. There are those suffering from a heavy heart, loss of a loved one, food insecurity, or homelessness. The list goes on and on.

In Psalm 69:33-36 (ESV) we learn God is listening.

“For the Lord hears the needy
and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.

Let heaven and earth praise him,
the seas and everything that moves in them.
For God will save Zion
and build up the cities of Judah,
and people shall dwell there and possess it;
the offspring of his servants shall inherit it,
and those who love his name shall dwell in it.”

Whatever the need, ask God for his help. He cares about you personally. Don’t delay. Pray.
